Midland Fisheries Group of Controlled Waters
Anglers in the Shannon region must have a Permit (ticket charge) to fish for trout, pike or coarse fish in the Midland Fisheries Group of controlled waters. This area comprises the following river catchments;
RIVER SUCK and tributaries.
Lough O'Flynn, Lough Acalla, Hollygrove Lake, Stonehams Lake, Lough Lung, Blacks Lake
RIVER INNY and tributaries.
Lough Sheelin, Lough Owel, Lough Ennel, Lough Derravaragh, Lough Glore, Louh Kinale, Bracklough Lough Patrick, Lough Iron
RIVER BROSNA and tributaries.
Ballinafid Lake, Doolin Pond, McEvoys Lake, Sheever Lake, Slevins Lake, Mount Dalton Lake, Pallas Lake
LITTLE BROSNA RIVER and tributaries.
Camcor River. Please note: no Fishing in Birr Castle.
- CAMLIN RIVER and tributaries.
This permit is not required to fish the main River Shannon or other fisheries whose fishing rights are NOT under the control of the Inland Fisheries Ireland.
Annual permits are issued for a calendar year, ie they expire on the 31st of December of the year of issue. Possession of a permit does not allow trout angling during a fisheries closed season.
Terms and conditions
IFI cannot vouch for the safe state of the fishery at any time due to changing weather and water conditions and the possible presence of hidden and unknown dangers. Anglers are warned to exercise the utmost care for their own safety and that of others using the fishery. This offer is issued on the strict understanding that IFI’s duty to you is limited to that owed to ‘Recreational Users’ under the occupiers Liability Act 1995.IFI reserve the right to refuse access to the fishery.
It is a condition of this permit that the holder carry with him / her photographic ID (i.e. Drivers licence / passport) at all times to ensure verification of the identity of the holder of the permit. Failure to have in their possession the required photographic identification invalidates the permit. Fishing without a valid permit on state waters is an offence.
